Coyote Run Miniature Donkey Farm is located on 40 acres in Cabot, Arkansas. Jerry was raised tending to cattle and raising Shetland ponies. I was raised in the city with an occasional ride on a friend's horse and visiting my grandparents on their farm. As our own kids were growing up, there was always a pony or donkey for them to play with on Jerry's parent's farm. It wasn't until the kids became adults and moved 1500 miles a way that Jerry and I decided we'd start to play. We built a house on the old farm place and Jerry sold the cows. For several years we owned horses, and we camped and rode trails in the Ozarks. Then, we decided to trade for something that doesn't have a brain of it's own, and we started camping and riding motorcycles. But, even though we still had 2 horses, 1 miniature horse and a standard donkey for pets, the farm felt "empty". That's when I decided to fulfill a life long yearning to raise miniature donkeys.
After researching excellent bloodlines that would give us miniature donkeys with beautiful confirmation, color, intelligence and personality, we began to build our herd from ADMS registered bloodlines, such as:
Wee One's Tyger, Circle C Little Motown, Sunset Acres Rowdy Yates, KKR After Dark, PMF King Coal, and Cobra's Randy Travis.
Since deciding to raise miniature donkeys, the farm has come alive with activity! It is so entertaining to watch foals playing together, and very fulfilling to have each and every one of them come to us wanting to be stroked and loved. I never cease to be amazed when watching the "momma" guide her newborn where she wants her "baby" to go, protecting and watching over it.
We love our donkeys and they are hard for us to part with, so we strive to pair new owners with the perfect donkey for them. Miniature donkeys are social, trustworthy, adorable, affectionate, and become easily attached to herd-mates and people. A donkey by itself will be lonely and depressed. Therefore, a donkey must go to a home to be paired with at least one other donkey or small equine.
